Resize an image for a Facebook cover
Facebook covers display around 820 × 312 on desktop — another wide strip that eats normal photos. Choosing the crop yourself keeps the subject in frame instead of wherever the auto-crop lands.

Why does my cover look different on my phone?
Facebook renders covers at different ratios on desktop and mobile, cropping the sides on phones. Content within the central ~640px width survives both.
What export format should I use?
A quality-85+ JPG keeps the upload small and clean. PNG is only worth it for flat-color designs with text.
